The Grand Hotel in Sopot
It is the most recognizable building in Sopot. It was built between 1924 and 1927, when Sopot was a part of the Free City of Gdansk. In that time the Grand Hotel was a symbol of luxury life but was also associated with bankruptcy due to the casino, which ran on the ground floor. Many famous people stayed here: Adolf Hitler (in the first days of WW2), Fidel Castro, Charles de Gaulle, Vladimir Putin, Shakira and Boney M. The monumental building of Grand Hotel in Sopot contrasts with other modern and boutique hotels such as the neighbouring Bayjonn Hotel (https://www.bayjonnhotel.com/).
