In the 1970s and 1980s, Polish housing estates were predominantly gray, and Gdańsk was no exception. Today, the city has transformed, with street art thriving across various districts.
I invite you to take a walk through the Zaspa district in Gdańsk, home to the city’s largest open-air gallery. Currently, there are over 60 murals, a tradition that began in 1997 when Gdańsk celebrated its millennium—1,000 years. New murals continue to emerge, reflecting themes of history, ecology, and visions of the future. These murals are created using diverse painting techniques, and the artists come from Poland, Sweden, Spain, Argentina, Brazil, the United States, and many other countries.
