The Golden Gate in Gdansk
Hundreds of tourists enter the gate every year since it opens the Royal Route in Gdansk. It also had a more decorative than military function. It was constructed at the beginning of the 16th century in the style of a triumphal arch. On the attic from Long Street (in Polish, ulica Długa) we have sculptures symbolising Harmony, Justice, Devotion and Prudence. On the side of the Amber Museum we have Peace, Freedom, Wealth and Glory.
The new Shakespeare Theatre is located just a few steps from The Golden Gate. Before WW2 the Great Synagogue of Gdansk stands also nearby.
