Visit to the Pier in Sopot

The creation of first pier in Sopot for spa tourists is thanks to Jean Haffner, a French doctor who after fighting at Napoleon’s side made his new home here in Sopot. The first pier was much shorter and had to be disassembled before the freezing polish winter. Nowadays the pier in Sopot is the longest wooden pier in Europe at 500 m.
At the end of the pier the level of iodine is even few times higher than at the beach so people coming to Sopot because of their health problems try to spend as much time on the pier as possible.
From the pier in Sopot you can see a splendid view of the cliffs of Gdynia, the port of Gdansk and the city of Sopot with its monumental Grand Hotel.
The sight is on the tour:  Gdansk, Sopot and Gdynia in one day
